DESCRIPTION:@Laurie Klein –\nWe are very happy to have Infrared photography expert Laurie Klein return for this exciting and informative 2 day infrared photography workshop. Laurie is an internationally acclaimed artist\, photographer\, educator and author who returns to DSI with this intensive 2 day experience. Laurie will show participants the creative possibilities of infrared photography through her own unique images and hands-on demonstrations. Participants will be inspired by Laurie’s myriad use of infrared capture of both the landscape and the human form. \nThis workshop is for newcomers to infrared photography and those hoping to build on their IR photography skills and content capture. \nTopics Covered\n•How IR interprets the visual spectrum (Image pre-visualizing)\n•Making good exposures utilizing your histogram\n•Camera Settings and infrared capture\n•Which subjects make for the best IR images\n•IR post production including: Macphun/Skylum and the presets created by Laurie and Shelley Vandegrift\n•Camera conversions\, camera equipment\n•Composition\n•How foliage\, animals\, water\, clouds\, sky and structures interprets the infrared spectrum\n•Exposures and histograms|\n•White Balance\n•IR post production  including: Macphun/Skylum and presets she and Shelley Vandegrift created\n•Global adjustments\, HDR\, channel swapping\n•HDR\, post production\, work flow \nHands-on Shooting Session and Evaluation \nThis workshop will give participants a chance to photograph a model outside with their infrared cameras. SUMMARY:Lightroom Shoot\, Import and Develop Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Learn to Import images into Lightroom\, adding keywords and your copyright.\nIf you’ve ever wanted to get all of your workflow down in one workshop\, then Lightroom Shoot\, Import and Develop is the workshop for you. Requirements include basic knowledge of camera functions\, and at least a general comfort level in using Lightroom. \nLearn to shoot dynamic portraits outdoors.\nIn this full day workshop\, the morning will be spent shooting in a lovely local location to be determined. You are free to shoot landscape images or join Kathy for a demonstration of various techniques for simple lighting solutions and background choices for great portraits. A model will be provided. Kathy will also discuss how to get the correct exposure\, choosing the best aperture and shutter speed for any photo and how to pre-visualize your creative outcome. After a break for lunch\, we will take our images back to the classroom to import\, edit and enhance. \nDevelop your photos using Lightroom’s powerful global and local tools. Learn to easily adjust exposure\, color\, and sharpness\, experiment with painting with light to add highlights and accentuate your subject.\nWith Lightroom’s global adjustment tools you will learn how to set your white balance\, and get the best exposure and contrast\, add vibrance and clarity to your images\, make variations for comparison using virtual copies\, quickly see before and after images\, synchronizing changes between multiple images\, and setting your favorite settings as a one click preset. \nThen\, with the local adjustment tools\, we can zero in on portraits and learn how to do simple edits to easily sharpen and whiten eyes and teeth\, remove blemishes\, and enhance skin tone. Some of the SAME tools can be used to enhance your landscape photos\, including the adjustment brush to add color and specific saturation\, the graduated filter for bringing drama to your skies\, and radial filter techniques to direct the viewer’s eye to the focal point of your image. \nSchedule\nMorning on location  9:30-12  (2.5hrs)\nLunch 12-1\nAfternoon in the classroom 1-4 (3 hrs) \nWhat to Bring\nOn location – you will need a camera\, a variety of lenses\, media card and fully charged battery.
