Print Mounting

Photo mounting can be an economical way to display your photographic images or prepare them for framing. Digital Silver Imaging offers both traditional photographic mounting materials and contemporary frameless mounting options. Do you make your own prints? No Problem, we can mount them for you. Contact us for details

ACM/Dibond®

ACM/Dibond®
Lightweight aluminum composite. All the stability, strength and archival quality of aluminum without the weight. ACM is a sandwich of two thin sheets of aluminum with a black or white lightweight composite core. Mounting hardware can be glued to the back of ACM. Best use of ACM mounting: large framed images, prints displayed without frames, float frames.

Aluminum

Aluminum
Industrial strength, modern appearance, archival. Aluminum is a specialty application preferred by some photographers and museums. Can be heavy. Best uses of aluminum mounting: Large framed images, prints displayed without frames, float frames.

Gatorfoam®

Gatorfoam®
Professional grade, warp-resistant. Rigid and tough Gatorfoam® has many applications. Mounted prints can be hung directly on a wall or used in a variety for presentation options. Best uses of Gatorfoam®: framed prints, prints displayed without frames.

Archival Mat Board

Archival Mat Board
Museum quality, acid-free. Often used in hinged mats or in a portfolio of images. Available in 4 ply and 8 ply. Best uses of archival mat board: framed prints, prints with window mats, deckle edge prints.

Aluma Mounts

Aluma Mounts
Aluma Mounts are fine art pigment prints mounted to an archival aluminum composite material, similar to DiBond®. Once mounted Aluma Mounts are spray coated with Hahnemühle UV non-aerosol protective spray to shield the surface and keep your print from fading. The result is a rigid, lightweight, museum quality print that is ready to display.

Face Mount to Acrylic

Face Mounting to Acrylic
Ultra-modern, gallery presentation. A high gloss ultra smooth print is mounted to ACM then adhered to a sheet of acrylic creating a dimensional presentation with a contemporary look. Large face mounts can be heavy, not ideal for locations with lots of windows due to reflections. Best uses of face mount to acrylic: contemporary interiors, commercial installations.

Are the mounting products we use archival?

We only use the finest materials that are archival, acid-free and meet museum conservation standards. We are happy to consult with you on making your print presentation archival and appropriate to the environment where it will be displayed. Below are just some of the mounting techniques we offer:

  • Museum photo corners (removable)
  • Acid-free pressure/heat activated adhesives
  • Archival hinge taping
  • Conservation-grade substrates

Exhibiting Big Prints Economically

Leonard Suryajaya’s exhibition, Parting Gift: Fitting in America, explores family portraiture as a space where private life intersects with the structures that shape national belonging. Leonard and gallery director Samantha Johnston wanted large prints to showcase the color and complexity of the images — but they also needed to keep costs in check for the nonprofit Colorado Photographic Arts Center.

The solution was to mount the prints to Gatorfoam® and adhere them directly to the wall. The thickness of the Gatorfoam® lifted the prints off the surface, and the black edge created the striking illusion that they were floating — a clean, gallery-worthy presentation at a fraction of the cost of traditional framing. The right mounting process made all the difference. Contact us and we’ll be happy to discuss your mounting options.
