Digital Silver Imaging is proud to again be a partner at Photoville 2016. We also honored to print the exhibitions of photographers Mark Peterson, Robin de Puy, and group exhibits Kamoinge‘s Exhibition Breaking Point and Live ZEKE.
Photoville will be in a new location, The Brooklyn Bridge Plaza, under the bridge and in the heart of DUMBO. The event will take place over 5 days, September 21-25. Admission is FREE to the public.
For the uninitiated, Photoville is multiple photographic exhibitions in a city of repurposed shipping containers. The brain child of United Photo Industries, this unique event features more than 60 photo exhibits, 35 lectures and workshops, food and drink. In fact it is the largest photographic event in New York City and worth a trip to Brooklyn.

We value Photoville because it gives us a chance to meet hundreds of people that love photography, people like Roman Siromakha.
This year at Photoville, Leica and Digital Silver Imaging co-sponsored an exhibition by photographer Mark Mann. In addition, Leica had a tent where they were loaning cameras for 90 minute blocks.
During the event I met an enthusiastic young man, Roman Siromakha. I told him that he could borrow a Leica, free, for 90 minutes. His excitement was not diminished when he discovered that the Leica he wanted most, the M Monochrom, was out on loan.
Roman, a lover of black & white, said he would return the next day to give the M Monochrome a spin. Roman did return late in the afternoon of the following day. Still enthusiastic he completed the necessary paperwork and departed with the M Monochrom.
As night fell Roman returned more thrilled than before. We spoke with Leica’s Renee Perez and Antonio Di Benedetto about the virtues of the M Monochrom. Roman was full of superlatives and promised to show us the images. True to his word he did show us the images, and including a blog post with his experience. Roman is a talented young photographer, but what really impressed me about him was his positive energy and love of the art. Photography needs more people like Roman Siromakha. Yes, he has skill, but more than that Roman Siromakha has passion. His joy is inspiring, I just want to say that meeting Roman was truly our pleasure.

Dead 50 Years, is an exhibition of photographs of the Grateful Dead from their inception. Herb Greene, as a young San Francisco photographer, befriended the band in the 1960s and created some of the era’s most iconic images of the Dead and Rock’n Roll.
This exhibition will feature Grateful Dead photographs selected by Greene himself. Not to be missed by Dead fans, and photo lovers alike, Dead 50 Years will showcase Greene’s keen eye for making impactful portraits. Not just a photographer-for-hire, Herbie was a friend and collaborator with the performers he photographed.
Herb Greene was recently featured and profiled in a special LIFE publication on The Grateful Dead’s 50 Year anniversary. He has photographed many Rock greats including, Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplane, Sly Stone, The Pointer Sisters, Jeff Beck and Led Zeppelin.
